Section 1 — Welcome

Thank you for volunteering. Every purchase made through the BBI Canteen helps support Bundaberg Basketball Inc. Your time and effort directly supports our players, programs and club, and we appreciate every volunteer who helps.

✦ You are not expected to know everything — please ask if you are unsure

✦ Your safety and food safety are more important than speed

✦ Every contribution helps, no matter how much time you can give

✦ Enjoy yourself and have fun!

Section 2 — Personal Hygiene & Food Safety

Food safety is everyone's responsibility. Following these simple guidelines helps us provide safe food for our customers.

🧼 Wash and dry your hands before handling food, after using the bathroom, after eating or drinking, after touching your face or hair, after handling rubbish, and any time your hands may have become contaminated

👩 Tie long hair back before commencing your shift

👟 Wear enclosed shoes while volunteering in the canteen

🤒 If you are unwell (especially with vomiting, diarrhoea or a contagious illness), please do not volunteer in the canteen

🥄 Use tongs or utensils where provided to minimise direct contact with food

🧹 Help keep benches and work areas clean and tidy throughout your shift

❓ If you are unsure about safe food handling, please ask

Section 3 — Emergencies & Incidents

Your safety and the safety of our customers is our priority.

🚨 If someone is injured or becomes unwell, notify the Canteen Coordinator immediately

📋 Report all accidents, injuries, near misses and hazards, no matter how minor

⚠ If you notice damaged equipment or a safety hazard, stop using it and report it immediately

🍽 If you believe food may be unsafe, do not serve it — please ask

🆘 In an emergency, remain calm and follow the instructions of the Canteen Coordinator or emergency services
